The extended Scotia Band family was very saddened today to learn that band member George Ritscher died yesterday as a result of a car accident. George joined Scotia Band in January 2006, and played the euphonium. We will miss him.

NEWS ALERT: Jill Petricca has been formally announced as the new conductor of the Scotia Band. The Calendar page has been updated, and the Conductor page is only partially updated, accordingly.

Update the Calendar page with specific dates and times. The schools for the School Tour concert have been selected. A date for the Music Night at the Winema Theater has been set, and the date of the Holy Ghost Parade in Ferndale was determined.

Minor corrections to the Calendar page: Reunion dinner is at the Scotia Fire Hall. The call time for the 75th Anniversary Concert is moved up to 2:00 p.m.

Change the old group Band photo on home page from 1936 to 1937, in order to compare old and new at the same location.
Revise the History page to update the 75th Anniversary write-up, to include forms for purchasing tickets to the 75th Anniversary Concert at the River Lodge on 8-15-10, and provide information to active and alumni members of the Band about obtaining tickets for a reunion event on 8-14-10.
Revise the History page to provide maps of Fortuna and Scotia to assist those traveling to the events of the 75th Anniversary.
Update the calendar.

The open enrollment period for the 2010 Sewell Lufkin Memorial Scholarship closed on April 30, 2010. The Scholarship Committee will be examining the applications received, and will announce a winner in the near future.

NEWS ALERT: The Scotia Band has received a nomination from the Humboldt Arts Council, and will be recognized at a dinner on May 22, 2010, as a recipient of the 2010 Celebration of the Arts Gala for Outstanding Contributions.
